Penn Announces 2011 Football Schedule and Captains

The University of Pennsylvania football team will defend their Ivy League championship with three conference games at home and four road games.  The Quakers host Yale, Princeton, and Cornell.  The Red and Blue travel to Dartmouth, Columbia, Brown, and Harvard.

The non-conference schedule features a game against city rival Villanova on September 24 at Franklin Field.  The Quakers open the season at home against Lafayette, and host Fordham on October 8.

Luke Nawrocki, Erik Rask, and Greg Van Roten were voted by their teammates as captains for the 2011 season.

“Our players made excellent choices in electing Erick, Greg, and Luke as 2011 team captains,” said George A. Munger Head Coach Al Bagnoli.  “They each played a large role as underclassmen and I think the players recognized their tremendous leadership abilities and work ethic.  We know these three, along with the rest of our senior class will provide a good example for our under-classmen as to what it means to serve as representatives of the Penn Football team on the field, on the campus and in the community.”

Rask is an All-Ivy first team honoree at linebacker.  He led the team with 69 tackles.  Van Roten is the only returning offensive lineman, and was an All-Ivy selection.  Nawrocki is a two-time All-Ivy Honorable Mention recipient.
