November 12, 2011 Games

TEMPLE – Overall 6 – 3, MAC 4 – 2

Result – Won 24 – 21 vs. Miami (Ohio) at Lincoln Financial Field

Summary – Rushing and Defense were the keys for Temple as the Owls defeated Miami 24 – 21.  With the win the Cherry and White broke a 2 game losing streak.  Temple took over second place in the MAC Eastern Division, and became bowl eligible.

Junior Running Back Matt Brown started in place of the injured Bernard Pierce.  He gained 123 yards on 24 carries for which Brown earned the MAC Offensive Player of the Week.  Freshman Quarterback Chris Coyer made his first start gaining 92 yards rushing.  He threw for a touchdown and ran for one.

The defense recorded 7 sacks and forced 3 turnovers.

Next Game – November 19 vs. Army at Lincoln Financial Field

PENN – Overall 5 – 4, Ivy League 4 – 2

Result – Lost 37 – 20 at Harvard

Summary –Penn’s reign as Ivy League Champions came to an end as the Quakers lose to Harvard 37 – 20.  The Crimson will wear the crown this season.

Junior Quarterback Billy Ragone threw for 2 touchdowns and ran for another as he became the first player in school history with 1,000 career rushing and 2,000 career passing yards.  Senior Wide Receiver Ryan Calvert caught 11 passes for 114 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Next Game – November 19 vs. Cornell at Franklin Field

 

 

VILLANOVA – Overall 2 – 8, 1 – 6 CAA

Result – Bye Week
