PHILADELPHIA – La Salle freshman Jerrell Wright has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the league office announced today. The Philadelphia native averaged 16.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Explorers.
Wright opened the week with an 11-point, eight-rebound performance against Delaware, registering two blocks. He followed that with a career-high 21 points to lead La Salle to a win over Central Connecticut State, pulling down nine rebounds in the process.
The Philadelphia native also dished out three assists versus CCSU. He shot 14-of-22 (.636) during the week.
Fordham’s Chris Gaston and Richmond junior guard Darien Brothers were named the A-10 Co-Players of the Week.
La Salle (8-4) hosts Boston University on Thursday at 7 PM.
