Drexel Drops CAA Men’s Tournament Quarterfinal Game To Northeastern

CAA MBB 2014The 4th seeded Drexel Dragons lost their CAA quarterfinal round game to the Huskies of Northeastern, the 5th seed, 90 – 81 in Baltimore.  Senior guard Chris Fouch scored a game-high 30 points, 26 in the second half to lead the Dragons.  Scott Eatherton recorded a double-double for the Huskies with 23 points and 15 rebounds.

It was a good start for Drexel opening an 11 – 4 lead.  Northeastern answered by going on a run to open a 35 – 21 halftime lead.  The lead would stretch to 51 – 34 before the Dragons would start a comeback behind the shooting of Fouch.  Drexel pulled to within six points at 85 – 79 late, but got no closer.

For the game the Huskies shot 51.9% (27 for 52) while Dragons were 30 for 65 (46.2%).  At the foul line Northeastern went 32 of 44.

Senior guard Frantz Massenat ended his season collegiate career scoring 19 points.

Drexel ends the season at 16 – 14, and will await post-season invitations.
