#5 Villanova Gets 7th Straight Win At Homecoming Game, Ranked 4th Nationally In FCS

#4 VILLANOVA WILDCATS – Overall 7 – 1, 4 – 0 CAA

Result – Won 48 – 28 vs. Morgan State at Villanova Stadium

#4 Villanova 48 Morgan State 28 – Tied at halftime the Wildcats scored 27 unanswered points in the third quarter to pull away for the victory.  Running Back Kevin Monangai ran for 170 yards and 2 touchdowns, one of which was an 81 yard scamper.  Quarterback John Robertson ran for 99 yards including a season long 56 yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage.  For the game Robertson ran for two touchdowns and had three scoring tosses.  Villanova posted a season-high 364 rushing yards.  Robertson now ranks second in rushing yards in school history with 2,948.  Monangai ranks fourth with 2,640 yards on the ground.

Next Game – November 1 at #13 Richmond

 

TEMPLE OWLS – Overall 4 – 3, 2 – 2 American Athletic Conference

Result – Lost 34 – 13 at UCF

Summary –

UCF 34 Temple 13 – The Owls dropped their second straight game falling on the road at Central Florida.  Offensively the Cherry and White struggled gaining 182 total yards, 150 passing.  Wide receiver Romond  Deloatch caught a 3 yard touchdown pass from quarterback P.J. Walker.  The Owls special teams supplied the other score when corner back Sam Benjamin blocked a punt, recovered it, then took it in from 6 yards out for the touchdown.  Linebacker Michael Felton blocked the next UCF punt.  Temple turned the ball over 4 times with 3 interceptions and a lost fumble.  UCF quarterback Justin Holman threw for 336 yards and wide receiver Breshad Perriman had 146 receiving yards.  It was the first time that the Owls surrendered a 300 yard passer or a 100 yard receiver since last year’s game against the Knights.

PENN QUAKERS – Overall 1 –5, Ivy League 1 – 2

Result – Lost 43 – 21 at Yale

Summary –

Yale 43 Penn 21 – Touting one of the top scoring offenses in the nation Yale moved out to a 29 – 14 lead at halftime.  The Bulldogs posted 605 yards of total offense, 264 rushing and 341 passing.  The University of Pennsylvania countered with wide receiver Conner Scott who caught 9 passes for 167 yards and 2 touchdowns of 42 and 32 yards.  It was not enough.  Scott moved into 4th place at Penn in career receptions with 132.  Spencer Kulcsar had a scoring catch of 48 yards.  Kulcsar had 9 receptions for 103 yards in the game.  Quarterback Alek Torgersen was 23 of 41 for 286 yards in addition to the three scoring tosses.  Yale running back Tyler Varga posted 140 rushing yards.  Quarterback Morgan Roberts completed 26 of 29 passes for 346 yards and 4 touchdowns. Grant Wallace caught 10 passes for 173 yards scoring twice.
