Saint Joseph’s Ousted In Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball Tournament Quarterfinal Round

#2 Dayton 80 #7 Saint Joseph’s 61 –  The Hawks fell in the quarterfinal round to the Dayton Flyers.  The game was close until an 18 – 3 run propelled the Flyers to a 36 – 18 lead and control in the first half.  Saint Joe’s got to within single digits only to face answers by Dayton that stretched the lead to as many as 27 points.  Forward Ashley Robinson scored a team-best 15 points and pulled down 6 rebounds.  Senior guard Natasha Cloud filled the stat sheet scoring 13 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.  Cloud finished her career as a Hawk third in assists (582) and 9th in steals (174). Her 1,049 points ranks Cloud 20th in school scoring history.  For the game Saint Joseph’s shot 32.8% (19 – 58), but in the second half they converted 7 of 28 (25%).  Sarah Fairbanks grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds and added 9 points.  Amber Deans scored 22 points to lead the Flyers.  SJU completes the season with a 13 – 17 record.

Dayton moves on the semifinal round to meet third seeded Duquesne.  Top seeded George Washington faces the #4 seed Fordham in the other semifinal.  The top four seeds all advanced.
