La Salle Advances To Sixth Straight Atlantic 10 Semifinal Before Falling, Penn Ties Nationally Ranked Princeton

LA SALLE 9 – 9 – 3 Overall, 5 – 4 – 1 Atlantic 10

Results – Won 2 – 1 vs. Saint Joseph’s in Atlantic 10 Quarterfinal

Lost 2 – 1 vs. Duquesne in Atlantic 10 Semifinal

Summary – The Explorers earned a win over city rival Saint Joseph’s in the quarterfinal round when Madison Bower put the ball inside the far post for the winning goal in the 70th minute.  It was Bower’s fourth goal of the season.  Marykate Bateman tied the game in the first half.  With the win La Salle advanced to the semifinal round for the sixth straight season.  The Explorers appeared to be the tournament Cinderella, but they ran into a bigger Cinderella in the semifinal round falling to the 7th seeded Duquesne Dukes.  Katie O’Connor scored in the 78th minute to win it for the Dukes.  Marykate Bateman scored for La Salle who had a 20 – 13 edge in shots and an 8 – 5 advantage in shots on goal.

ResultsTied 0 – 0 (2 OT) vs. #24 Princeton at Rhodes Field

Summary –The University of Pennsylvania concluded its season with a scoreless draw against nationally ranked Princeton in the Homecoming game.  The Quakers ended an 11 game winning streak for the Tigers.  Penn was outshot for only the third time this season by a 14 – 10 margin.  Goalie Kalijah Terilli made 6 saves in the game.

SAINT JOSEPH’S 13 –7 – 0 Overall, 7 – 3 – 0 Atlantic 10

Result – Lost 2 – 1 vs. La Salle in Atlantic 10 Quarterfinal

Summary – The 3rd seeded Hawks saw their season end in the quarterfinal round as the Explorers Madison Bower scored in the 70th minute.  Saint Joe’s got a goal from Dakota Mills early in the game to take the lead.   The teams tied in shots at 17.  Goalie Allison Ebling set the SJU record for most saves in an Atlantic 10 Tournament game with 10.  Mills finished tied for sixth most in goals (10) and points (23) in a season in Saint Joseph’s history.

TEMPLE 12 – 7 – 1 Overall, 4 – 4 – 1 AAC

Results – Lost 2 – 1 vs. UCF in American Athletic Conference Quarterfinal

Summary – The Owls made a late push but could not overcome the #3 seed Knights in the quarterfinal game.  Kelly Farrell scored for Temple in the 88th minute, but it was not enough to overcome the first half deficit.  The Cherry and White had a 14 – 13 advantage in shots, 10 – 8 in the second half.  Temple finished the season allowing 20 goals the least amount in program history.
