Army Marches Over Saint Joseph’s In CRC Rugby Sevens

CHESTER, PA. 6/3/2017 – The hopes of winning their pool were dealt a blow as Army posted a convincing 24 – 10 win over the Saint Joseph’s Hawks.  SJU is even on the day at 1 – 1 with one more to play on the opening round of competition, and West Point is also 1 – 1.

Army scored the first two tries of the game when Harrison Farrell and Alec Smith crossed the goal line and with a good kick the Hawks faced a 12 – 0 deficit.  Saint Joe’s got the next score.  Noah Niumataiwalu got the ball and ran straight down the field.  He was corralled by Army, but managed to pass back to Chris Curcio who put the ball down in the end zone cutting the gap to 12 – 7.

Army got a critical try  late in the first half by Ryan Moshak to take a 17 -5 lead at halftime.

Saint Joe’s got the initial try of the second half as Jimmy Wolfer scored, but Andrew Fargo answered for Army to end the scoring.
