Temple Selected For 6th Place in American Women’s Basketball Poll

PHILADELPHIA, PA. 10/14/2019 – The women’s college basketball season is starting soon. In the American Media Day Preseason Coaches Poll the Temple Owls were selected for 6th place in the conference. Forward Mia Davis made the Preseason All-Conference First Team.

The UConn Huskies were the unanimous selection, getting all 11 votes, as the preseason favorite. It was the seventh consecutive season for the Huskies being named the top-team in the preseason.

The order of the poll showed USF finishing second while UCF and Cincinnati were tied for third. Houston was fifth ahead of the Owls. Tulane, Memphis, Wichita State, Tulsa, ECU, and SMU rounded out the poll.

Joining Davis on the first team were; Kay Kay Wright of UCF and Crystal Dangerfield of Connecticut who were named the Preseason Players of the Year. Tulane forward Krystal Freeman and UConn forward Megan Walker were also voted on to the first team.

The All-Conference Second Team members were; Antoinette Miller and IImar’I Thomas of Cincinnati, Huskies guard Christyn Williams, Dorian Branch from Houston, and Enna Pehadzic of USF.

Temple begins their year, the 11th under Coach Tonya Cardoza, on November 5th hosting Fairfield.
