Temple Advances In American Men’s Soccer Tournament, Wins 2-1 at Memphis

The 5th seeded Temple Owls defeated the Memphis Tigers 2 – 1 in the second overtime of their first round men’s soccer tournament match in Memphis. The Owls will make their first ever appearance in the league semifinal round facing top-seeded UCF in Orlando.

The Owls trailed 1 – 0 after a goal by Sam Ashton for the Tigers in the 24th minute. Late in the game Esteban Suarez tied it with less than 2 minutes left in regulation. In the 103rd minute Jalen Campbell found the back of the net sending his team on to Florida.

Lukas Fernandes and Sean Karani got assists on the scores. Goalie Simon Lefebvre made 6 saves. The Cherry and White had a 17 – 10 advantage in shots, 9 – 7 on goal.

Temple is undefeated in 6 of their last 7 games, winning five matches. They look to keep the momentum moving forward.
