Lydia Olivere Individual Regional Champion in Cross Country – Villanova Finishes Second

The Villanova Wildcats finished second in the Mid-Atlantic Cross Country Championships at Lehigh paced by Lydia Olivere who won the individual title covering the distance in 20:02. Olivere was also the Big East titlist.

Villanova placed three runners in the top four scoring 77 points to finish second to Penn State who totaled 73 points. The Wildcats qualified for the NCAA Championships as a team for the 5th straight year.

Maggie Smith finished in third place with a time of 20:15.8 and Ann Campbell was fourth getting to the finish line in 20:21.3.

Also scoring for the Cats were Brynne Sumner (32nd 20:57) and Nikki Merrill (37th 21:04).

Anna Helwig (60th 21:33.4) and McKenna Keegan (64th 21:40.01) also ran the course for the Blue and White.

Penn

The University of Pennsylvania women’s team placed 6th in the meet with 156 points. Ariana Gardizy was the top finisher for the Quakers who placed 17th with a time of 20:40.6. Nia Akins was 21st covering the distance in 20:45.6. Melissa Tanaka ran a time of 20:49.4 and was 26th. Maddie Villalba (44th 21:11.9) and Lizzy Bader (48th 21:48.8) also scored for the Red and Blue.

Temple

The Owls placed two runners in the top 25 in the meet. The Cherry and White were in 7th place overall. Millie Howard was 22nd crossing the finish line in 20:46. Just behind in 24th place was Grace Moore with a time of 20:46.7. Michelle Joyce was in 38th place running the course in 21:04.1.

La Salle

The Explorers were 8th overall scoring 267 points led by the Mancini sisters who were 30th, 34th, and 36th overall. Liz Mancini was the top finisher for LSU with a time of 20:54.9. El ran the distance in 20:59.9, and Grace hit the tape in 21:36.1. Other La Salle runners in the meet were Jerika Lufano (63rd 21:36.1), Christine Mancini (22:41) and Allanna Powlette (22:33.3).

Saint Joseph’s

The Hawks were in 22nd place getting 608 points. Elaine Estes had the best time for SJU placing 45th with a time of 22:31. Abagail Silva was 116th running a career-best 22:26.1. Emily Schaeffer ran a 22:50.3 placing 144th. Emily Bracken (149th 22:58.5) and Smanatha Mayers (154th 23:02) were in the Hawks top five. Also running were Morgan Patten (23.22) and Meredith Twomey (23:27.7).
