Villanova Places Two Runners in the Top Ten in the 10,000 Meters

James Lee of Penn Takes 4th Place in College Men’s 1500 Meters

PHILADELPHIA, PA 4/28/2022 –

The first day of competition in the Penn Relays back at Franklin Field for a full meet in two years. Let’s take a look at how the Philadelphia Division 1 schools finished in the first day of competition. This summary will focus on who finished in the top ten overall or in their heat.

College Men’s 1500 Meters Championship

James Lee, Penn Overall 4th Place 3:47.43 – Lee finished in second in his heat. AJ Ernst of Providence was the overall winner with a time of 3:46.01. Liam Murphy, Villanova was 17th overall running a time of 3:52.98. He was in 7th place in Heat 1.

College Women’s 1500 Meters Championship

Laura Nicholson, Temple took 11th place overall crossing the finish line in a time of 4:22.25, placing second in Heat 3. Olivia Babski of Penn took 9th place in the same heat running a time of 4:30.78. Her time was 25th overall. Sarah Hendrick of Kennesaw State turned in the best time of 4:16.68.

College Men’s 400 Meters Hurdles

Nicholas Mollica of Villanova was 16th overall placing 5th in Heat 3 crossing the finish line in 53.99. Liam O’Hara of Penn was right behind in the heat turning in a time of 54.23. He placed 19th overall. Quivell Jordan of Houston had the best time in the event running a 49.63. He was the only runner to finish the race in under 50 seconds.

College Men’s 3000 Meters Steeplechase

William Hare of Penn placed 8th overall. He ran in Heat 1 placing 6th covering the distance in 8:59.18. Marshall Williamson of North Carolina was the overall winner with a time of 8:47.53.

College Men’s 5000 Meters Championship

Noah Carey of Penn placed fifth in his heat and fifth overall running a 13:53.86. Penn also had Dylan Throop placing 4th in the other heat with a time of 14:04.40. He was 19th overall. Villanova runner Jack Jennings placed 13th overall covering the distance in 14:00.51. Yaseen Abdalltah of Texas ran the fastest time, 13:47.05.

College Men’s 10000 Meters Championship

This turned out to be a big event for Villanova. Ryan Cutter placed second in the event running a personal best time of 29:00.45. His teammate Jack Fredian ran in this event for the first time this season covering the distance in 29:52.32 placing fifth. Erik Kane ran for Temple getting 8th place with a time of 30:14.46. Stony Brook distance runner won the race hitting the finish line in 28:59.64.

College Men’s Hammer Throw – College

Two area participants placed in the top ten. Scott Dochat of Penn had the sixth best throw at 58.87m while Villanova’s Riley LaRivierie had a throw covering 56.55m. The longest toss was by Collin Burkhart of Penn State at 64.65m.
