Saint Joseph’s Three-Peats, Wins Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Championship

The 13th ranked Saint Joseph’s Hawks won their third straight Atlantic 10 Field Hockey title defeating the host Richmond Spiders 1 – 0 in the final. This is the first time in program history that the Hawks won three consecutive titles.

Early in the second quarter Jordan Olenginski found the back of the cage with the assist going to Peppa Serrano.

Richmond outshot Saint Joe’s 9 – 7, so the Hawks needed the defense to get the win. Defender Kathryn Bentz led the back line and was named the tournament Most Outstanding Player. Goal Keeper Victoria Kammerinke made 4 saves.

Joining Bentz on the All-Tournament team were Olinginski, Serrano, Kammerinke, and Carolina Boxer.

The Hawks (17 – 3) got to the final after a 2 – 1 victory over Lock Haven.

Saint Joseph’s will go to the NCAA Tournament again. The pairings will be announced on Sunday night.
